Silver Bullet Wild West Slot
It has come to our attention that this game sometimes has difficulty connecting to the game server. If this happens, please accept our apologies, and choose another game from the list of game categories on your right.
Silver Bullet is a Wild West-themed slot by Playtech with a simple design. The game is reminiscent of classic slots in that it provides good reel-spinning entertainment without all the bells and whistles of some modern games. Also, this isn't just a slot for Western movie buffs, meaning you won't find every character Clint Eastwood ever played in here. Instead, the game features colorful symbols and background décor which almost any player can relate to and enjoy. The optional progressive jackpot (in real money mode only) boosts the game's general appeal.

Setting the scene
You'll hear the sound of a gun being reloaded and a silver bullet fired each time you hit a payline, but the game's setting is not at all violent. The symbols consist of all the traditional props you'd expect from an old-fashioned Cowboy movie, and overall the effect is much more comedic than shoot 'em up.
There are no card symbols in this game (unless you count the lucky 7) which makes a refreshing change from Playtech's standard fare. The special symbols are as follows:
- Wild - The Sheriff's Badge. This classic golden star symbolizing the power of the sheriff is your wild symbol in this game. It substitutes for all symbols including the scatter and acts as a 2x multiplier.
- Scatter - The Colt Revolver. Two or more of these landing consecutively on the reels will increase your winnings. (Note that unlike many of Playtech's other slots, Silver Bullet does not offer a Free Games round for three or more scatter symbols).
The regular symbols include iconic images from the Wild West:
- A horse
- A dollar bill
- A horse shoe
- A pipe
- A wagon wheel
- A cowboy hat
- A bottle of whiskey (we know it looks like a bottle of mustard but it's not!)
- The lucky 7
- A bomb with a burning fuse
- A barrel of beer
Wagers and jackpots
This is a five-reel slot with a rather modest number of paylines: just nine. Your range of betting values goes from 0.01 to 5 in whatever currency you're using (of course this matters only if you're playing for real money). The maximum jackpot in this game is 10,000 coins for five hits on the beer barrel symbol.
Other Ways to Win
As we said before, there are no free spins in this game, but in real money mode you have access to Playtech's lotto-style progressive jackpot game: Dollar Ball. If you've already read about or tried some of the other games we feature on Free Slots (for example, Desert Treasure - also in the adventure genre - and Football Rules in Sports) you'll have some idea how this works. Basically, the Dollar Ball Progressive is an optional side game you can enable or disable by clicking on the Dollar Ball symbol at the top right corner of the reels. You then choose five numbers out of 49, and for every spin the game will automatically select five numbers. The more of your selected numbers that match the game's automatically picked numbers, the more you win. You take the whole (rather generous) jackpot for five matching numbers and 1% of it for four.
Music, audio and graphics
There's no music to talk about really with this game. Some of the sound effects are cute though. We already mentioned the sound of the gun being loaded, but there's also a "boiinnng" sound when you spin. If you hit a payline the gun goes off and you can even hear the bullet casing hitting the ground and rolling away. The graphics are colorful; a certain amount of effort has gone into making the images look three-dimensional, but these aren't the sharpest images we've ever seen from Playtech. The background, however, has been done well. The game's name at the top of the reels is displayed on a wooden sign with silver lettering, like the kind you might find on a double-doored saloon bar.
The Last Word...
This game needs a Free Games round or a bonus round or just something to take it from being cute, fun and interesting to a really enthralling reel-spinner. Nevertheless, it remains cute, fun and interesting, and a lot of players will be content to give it a few spins for just those reasons. It's a seven out of ten folks.
